Getting there

At the Slovenian Alpine Museum one of our main tasks is also (mountain) nature conservation. Operating at our museum are a number of information points. The first infopoint in Slovenia of the Alpine Convention, the aim of which is the protection of the Alps, the infopoint of the Triglav National Park, which was established with the purpose of preserving the area around Triglav for future generations. Also operating at the museum are the information point of the Alpine Association of Slovenia and the information point of the Dovje-Mojstrana Tourist Association.

Aware of the ever greater global problem of climate change, our museum with its partners, The Alpine Association of Slovenia, the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Municipality of Kranjska Gora, and the Dovje-Mojstrana Tourist Association, applied to an invitation to tenders by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia to represent the Alpine Convention in Slovenia with its project Visiting Mountains at a Time of Climate Change.

One of our project activities include providing free transport from the train station in Jesenice to our museum locations (the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana, the Kranjska Gora Museum, the Jesenice Ethnographic Museum of Workers’ Culture, the Kos Manor Museum) and free transport into the valleys under Mount Triglav.
